In March 2025, thanks to generous donations and funding, we welcomed Dentaid The Dental Charity to Emmaus Bristol. Over two days, their mobile dental unit provided vital care to 13 of our companions and one former companion – giving them access to treatments they might have otherwise gone without.
For people experiencing homelessness, getting dental care is often out of reach. Long waiting lists, financial struggles and the challenge of finding stable housing means problems can go untreated for years. Some companions were understandably nervous, but given how hard it is to see a dentist in Bristol, they were also eager to get the help they needed.
Dentaid’s volunteer dentists and nurses were incredible. They carried out essential treatments like fillings, extractions, plaque cleaning, and cancer screenings, all while treating everyone with kindness and care.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our supporters. Donations to our dental fundraiser last year, along with funding from BrisDoc and Emmaus UK’s Companion Training Fund, meant we could bring Dentaid’s mobile unit straight to our Emmaus community.
