In this time of uncertainty in the world, Emmaus Bristol stands with people fleeing war, persecution and poverty in their home countries.

We work in Bristol, but we support people from all over the world. This includes homeless migrants who have no recourse to public funds, leaving them unable to access nearly all of the supported accommodation available in the city. Emmaus Bristol is different.

A SAFE HOME We offer up to two ‘solidarity’ bed spaces for people without access to benefits or other means to fund their accommodation – with no deadline to move out.

A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY People in our solidarity bed spaces benefit from being part of our Emmaus community, where they can build connections, improve their English, and find a sense of belonging in a supportive environment.

LEGAL HELP We connect people with our local partner, Bristol Law Centre to access legal advice and support to obtain settled status or challenge asylum decisions.

Help make Bristol a city of sanctuary. The costs of providing accommodation and support are the same for everyone at Emmaus Bristol, but for those in our solidarity spaces, we cannot claim housing benefit and must rely entirely on generating the income ourselves. Your donation could pay for:

  • £15 could pay for a bundle of toiletries for someone moving in
  • £45 could pay for a week’s food for a companion
  • £94 could pay for someone’s support for one day
  • £285 could support, house and feed someone without benefits for a week
  • Or, a regular monthly gift helps secure our support for companions in years to come.
