The issues that can lead to someone facing, or experiencing, homelessness are many and often complex.  Beginning to identify, understand and address some of those issues can seem overwhelming and the process can take a long time.

We start by working hard to make sure that each person joining the Emmaus Bristol community has a furnished, well-maintained home that provides a warm, secure space to be. We have been doing this for many years and our community has been a lifeline for those who have faced unimaginable hardships, offering a place of belonging, purpose and hope.

As with any home, however, regular repairs and maintenance are essential to ensure the wellbeing and comfort of our residents. The direct cost of our 21-bedroom community house has increased by 121% over the last 12 months.  That means it will cost an additional £41,993 this year to repair, maintain, light, heat and provide water and sewerage for residents.

Support our Repairs & Energy Appeal

The work we do, and the homes we provide, rely on your support; this year more than ever.  By working together, we can continue to provide a safe, secure and warm building as the first crucial step in helping someone to avoid homelessness.

That is why we have launched our Repairs & Energy Appeal, calling on valued supporters like you to help us raise funds for vital repair work and maintenance at the homes we provide, including our 21-bedroom community house. Your generous donations will enable us to address pressing issues such as roof repairs, plumbing, electrical work, weatherproofing and general upkeep, ensuring that our residents have a safe and well-maintained environment to call home.

Your support is vital in making a difference in the lives of those we house. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a significant impact. You can support our appeal through a regular gift, one-off donation, fundraiser or payroll giving. You donation could provide the following:

  • £1,000 could provide repairs, maintenance and utilities affecting 1 person for one whole year
  • £120 could provide light and heat to 21 individuals for one day
  • £60 could provide repairs and maintenance affecting 21 individuals for one day
  • £20 could provide four hours of light and heat to 21 individuals
  • £10 could cover the repairs, maintenance and utilities cost of one room per day
