Bringing essential dental care to our companions

A big thank you to Dentaid for visiting Emmaus Bristol again! Their mobile dental unit provided essential dental care to 13 companions and one former companion, helping people who have experienced homelessness access the treatments they need and deserve.

Treatments ranged from fillings and extractions to plaque cleaning and cancer screenings. While some companions were understandably nervous, many were eager for the opportunity to see a dentist – a reminder of the challenges people face accessing dental care while experiencing homelessness.

It’s better than expected, they are nice and friendly and they did a great job.

The Dentaid team’s professionalism, kindness, and reassuring manner turned what can be a nerve-wracking experience into one filled with care and compassion.

Emmaus Bristol extends heartfelt thanks to all the volunteer dentists, dental nurses, and everyone at Dentaid for their incredible work. Their support makes a real difference in the lives of residents, helping them maintain their health and wellbeing.

Thank you to everyone who donated to last year’s Emmaus Bristol dental fundraiser, Dentaid were so impressed they returned for this follow-up visit— completely free!

We’re also grateful to Emmaus UK’s Companion Training Fund, whose support helped make the initial visit possible and continues to back our companions’ development and wellbeing.
